FAQs

Before sending me a question via DM or contact form, please read through these FAQs as thoroughly as you can! Me and my overfull inbox thank you for the handful of minutes it will take you to do so.

Please note that if you contact me with a question answered below, you will not receive a response.

Where do I go to book a session?

As of January 2021, the only way to book a session is by becoming one of my Patreon patrons at the Six of Pentacles tier or higher! I have converted my booking page to be accessible via private links only. This is because my priorities & human beingness mean I have a limited amount of time for client sessions, and therefore I prioritize what client time I do have for my monthly clients, students, and Patreon patrons. Those three groups very quickly fill my calendar!

If you aren’t attached to having a session with me, specifically, and I don’t currently have space in my calendar (which is most of the time), I do have a public Patreon post with a limited list of other practitioners who might be able to provide you with the insight you seek. You can find it here.

How can I work with you?

The majority of my work happens within one-on-one tarot, astrology, and tutoring/mentorship sessions. While all of my work can be supportive within a single session, some people choose to work with me regularly over time. That can range from one session per year to two sessions every month depending on what someone is investigating, learning, walking through, etc. If you’d like to explore recurrent or ongoing work, contact me directly with what you have in mind.

Additionally, I’m present on Patreon, Instagram, and Twitter. Each platform has different levels of engagement and different forms of content. Patreon has the added bonus of unique content, patron-only live chats, and early-warnings for calendar openings & special events.

In the past, I’ve taught in-person workshops on a variety of topics, and my available lecture recordings are available for purchase & download here.

I’ve been on quite a few podcasts as well, and you can find the list with direct links to listen on my About page.

And last but not least, consider following updates on the Rosebud Tarot, a new tarot deck with art by my dear friend Amanda Lee Stilwell and a guidebook written by yours truly. You can follow us on Instagram here, and join our newsletter here.

What are your rates?

The most up-to-date rates are listed on the description pages for tarot and astrology.

There aren’t any openings on your calendar. Are you accepting new clients?

I add space to my calendar up to three months in advance, but usually for a month out at a time. If there appears to be no space available based on the session you’re attempting to schedule, it means that I’m currently booked out for the moment. The primary way to be notified about when I add more space to my calendar is by joining my Patreon at the Ten of Pentacles tier or higher. If my Patreon patrons and returning clients do not fill my calendar, newsletter subscribers who indicate they wish to receive messages about 1:1 sessions are granted access, too.

How do you conduct your sessions?

All of my sessions are conducted over the video conferencing platform Zoom. If you’re on a computer (vs a tablet or phone) you will be able to record the session directly to your own device. I record on my end as well, for archival purposes.

When your booking is confirmed, you will be sent a meeting link. Please double check your spam folder if it doesn’t show up in your inbox!

What payment methods do you accept?

Paypal is my standard payment option. If Paypal is absolutely not an option for you, contact me for other options.

Do you accept tips? Am I expected to tip?

Tipping is always accepted but never expected! Tips can be sent via Paypal here, or via Venmo to @DianaRHarper.

I would like to buy a session as a gift for a friend. Do you offer gift certificates?

As of January 2021, I no longer offer gift codes/gift certificates. This is because my reduced availability for client sessions makes it impossible for me to guarantee that someone with a gift code would be able to work with me within the six months after receiving their gift code, and that just doesn’t seem fair.

How does sliding scale work?

If you carry one or more of the identities I prioritize for sliding scale (trans, non-white-passing-POC, Indigenous, disabled, at-risk immigrant, careworkers including sex workers, environmental activists, and social justice activists), then I will ask that you pay at least 60% of the standard fee for sessions an hour or longer, or 70% for shorter sessions (to account for the same amount of prep time involved). How much more you pay beyond that level I leave up to you and your knowledge of your financial circumstances + relative privilege. Acupuncturist Chiara Galimberti has a very useful set of infographics to help you assess yourself in terms of accessing sliding scale, and you can see those infographics here (please note that I do not use an identical framework to Chiara; this resource is merely to help you with your self-assessment).

How can I contribute to your sliding scale work?

You can send support and tips via Paypal. You can also join my Patreon at any tier, and you’re invited to increase your pledge beyond the baseline for that tier.

Where are you speaking next?

I will be presenting a keynote and a lecture at the Northwest Astrological Conference in May, 2024. Additionally, you can acquire all of my currently available lecture recordings here.

Where can I read your writing?

You can read some of it here on my website; a large amount of it over on my Patreon; scroll through my Instagram feed’s larger-than-average captions; my article for WIRED here; or check out my contributions to HausWitch’s Community Page, many of which are linked from my About page.

There’s more stuff in the pipeline, too, so keep your eyes peeled!

When is your book coming out?

Great question! While there is no singular book currently in process, I do aspire to contribute at least one physical text to the world in my lifetime. If you’d like to support that goal, I encourage you to join me over on Patreon -- the more patronage I have, the more time I have to read, learn, research, and write what will eventually be a real-deal book.

Do you have suggestions for how I can also learn tarot/astrology/reiki?

The main piece of advice I have is to find professionals who resonate with you and take any classes they teach, read anything they write, etc. I have some educational content up on my Patreon already, and will eventually be creating content specifically to guide people in their own learning journeys.

How long have you been studying?

I have been studying astrology since 2011. I have been playing with tarot since 1998, and studying it more seriously since 2007. I began my reiki studies in 2015 and attained reiki master teachership in 2018.

Who are your teachers?

My main astrology teacher at this point is Austin Coppock. I’ve learned from and been strongly influenced by Kelly Surtees, Chris Brennan, Jessica Lanyadoo, Aepril Schaile, Bernadette Brady, Sam Reynolds, Pallas K. Augustine, Amaya Rourke, Chani Nicholas, Kaitlin Coppock, Mark Jones, and many other professional astrologers. When it comes to tarot, I don’t have a main teacher, but have been most strongly influenced by Cassandra Snow, Beth Maiden, Rachel Pollack, Camelia Elias, and Benebell Wen. My reiki teacher was Yvonne E. Nieves (I no longer practice reiki.)

I’ve learned a massive amount from my business coaches Captolia Eaton and Sarah M. Chappell, without whom I would not have my shit as together as I do.

And most importantly, I learn, every single day, from my more-than-human community.

How long have you been in practice?

I began offering professional reiki sessions in 2016, professional tarot readings in 2017, and professional astrology consultations in 2018. When I say “professional,” I mean in exchange for money and working with people who aren’t friends or family.

What house system do you use?

I use whole sign houses.

What zodiac do you use?

I use the tropical zodiac.

What tarot deck do you use?

I have a collection of tarot decks, and will use the deck that feels appropriate for a given client. My most frequently-used decks for client sessions are the Morgan-Greer tarot, the Brady Tarot, and the Moonchild Tarot. I’ve historically used the Pagan Otherworlds Tarot quite frequently, but I don’t currently use that deck for client readings.

Can I pick which deck you use for a tarot reading?

Short answer, no. I use the deck that feels the most appropriate to me based on a client’s inquiry; each of my decks has its own personality and strengths, and since you do not know my decks the way I do, I generally do not give clients the option to choose for themselves.

Do you collaborate with brands, shops, etc.?

I do, but I only work with people/brands/companies with whom I already have an established and trusted relationship prior to engaging in any kind of “collaboration” that involves affiliate structures, advertising, etc., OR brands whose values very clearly align with my own. I immediately delete emails that are from companies/people who clearly do not align with my work, values, and/or mission.

I am not available to write horoscopes for your brand/shop/etc. I do not enjoy writing horoscopes! I will consider one-off events, interviews, etc., but unless your budget is substantially generous and your mission highly aligned with my own, I will not write regular horoscopes for you.

Are you open to trading/bartering for your services?

I am, but I am very selective about this. I do not do service-for-service trades with people I do not already know and trust, and in general, I prefer to trade for objects such as hand-crafted jewelry, ceramics, clothing, artisanal perfumes, books, herbal medicines, artworks, fresh flowers, beeswax candles, and so forth. Do know that I am super particular in my aesthetic tastes (I have natal Venus in Capricorn!), so please don’t be offended if I turn down a trade/barter suggestion! A good measure of whether I’m likely to be open to trade with you is if I already follow your work via newsletter or social media, but if I’m not already aware of your magic & skills, please don’t let that stop you from reaching out.

Can I mail you a deck in exchange for a review?

Maybe! As I mention in the barter question, I am very particular when it comes to aesthetics and objects, and that includes my deck collection. Please feel free to reach out to me; if your proffered deck is not in alignment with my aesthetic and/or other preferences, I will say as much. It’s impossible for me to feign enthusiasm about something I’m not actually totally in love with, and I don’t want to waste your money & time by having you send me something I won’t be able to honestly & enthusiastically recommend to others.
